Mike Marlar hopped behind the wheel of the Jason Rauen-owned No. 157 Late Model on Thursday afternoon at Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.) for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) season opener. Drawing 47 cars for the Super Bowl of Racing, Marlar secured his spot into the opening night feature with a second-place finish in his heat. The following night, Mike edged his way into the main event with the third-and-final transfer spot in his heat race. Clawing forward two spots in the 40-lap affair, Marlar recorded a 15th-place finish.
For the finale on Saturday, Marlar fell one spot short of a transfer spot in his heat with a fourth-place finish, relegating him into the B-Main. With a provisional already secured, Mike used his B-Main as a test session and only ran a few laps before pulling in. Starting the $15,000-to-win finale in 25th, Marlar was an early retiree on the ninth circuit.
