For another $7,000-to-win A-Main on Tuesday, Mike’s second-place finish in his heat race placed him 12th on the starting grid for the feature. Pulling off late in the 30-lapper, Marlar was an early retiree with five laps remaining.
In a field of 58 cars on Wednesday as the remainder of the week became World of Outlaws Case Construction Late Model Series sanctioned, Mike gained three spots in his heat race to pick up the win. Receiving the third-starting position for the $10,000-to-win A-Main via the redraw, Marlar was running in second when a flat tire on the sixth lap brought a disappointing end to his evening.
The following night, Marlar edged his way into the feature with the third-and-final transfer spot in his heat. After bringing out a caution on the opening circuit for a flat tire, Mike marched from the tail to finish 12th.
On Friday, Mike laid down the fourth-fastest time in his group before placing third in his heat. With $10,000 on the line in the feature, Marlar faded three spots to place 16th.
To wrap up the 51st annual DIRTcar Nationals on Saturday, Marlar followed up the third-fastest time in his group with a convincing heat triumph. Rolling off fifth for the finale, Mike improved three spots in the 40-lapper to register a second-place finish. He trailed Chris Madden to the checkers with Dale McDowell, Max Blair, and Kyle Hammer rounding out the Top-5.
