Top-10 finish in Scott Sexton Memorial at 411
Mike Marlar was one of 63 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries amassed at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) on Friday afternoon for the opener of the 30th annual Show-Me 100 weekend after Mother Nature axed Thursday’s Cowboy Classic. (Heath Lawson photos)
Following the fourth-fastest lap in his time trial group, Marlar outran Jimmy Owens in his heat race to pick up the eight-lap victory. Starting on the pole for the $6,000-to-win preliminary feature, Marlar bicycled through a rut in turns one and two while running in third that ended his night immediately. Other than some soreness and the wind knocked out of him, Marlar was able to escape unharmed but was a scratch from Saturday’s program.
Back in action on Monday, Mike visited 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tenn.) for the Valvoline Iron-Man Southern Series-sanctioned Scott Sexton Memorial. With a fifth-place finish in his heat race pinning him on the seventh row for the $10,052-to-win A-Main, Marlar advanced through the field seven spots in the 52-lapper to finish seventh.
