Mike Marlar lands Top-5 in Winter Nationals opener at Ocala
Following the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) to Florida, Mike Marlar unloaded the Skyline Motorsports No. 157 Late Model at the newly rebranded Ocala Speedway (Ocala, Fla.) on Tuesday evening for the two-day Winter Nationals.
With a flag-to-flag victory in his heat race placing him on the second row for the opener, Marlar shuffled one spot in the 40-lap affair to register a fifth-place finish. He trailed Ricky Thornton Jr., Tyler Erb, Devin Moran, and Jonathan Davenport across the line.
For another $10,000-to-win program on Wednesday, Mike’s third-place finish in his heat positioned him 12th on the starting grid for the A-Main. Getting collected in a multi-car tangle early, Marlar’s night was over on the 10th circuit, relegating him to 26th in the finishing order.
In a field of 49 LOLMDS entries on Friday at All-Tech Raceway (Lake City, Fla.), Marlar missed a transfer spot by one spot in his B-Main with a third-place finish, necessitating the use of a provisional. He was scored 23rd after pulling pitside on lap 40 of the 50-lapper.
On Saturday, Mike raced into the $15,000-to-win finale with the third-and-final transfer position in his heat. His weekend came to a disappointing end after drawing the lone caution of the feature on lap 26.
